Historical Statistics of Switzerland
The Swiss Economic and Social History Online Database, developed at the Research Center for Economic and Social History (FSW) at the University of Zurich, is a unique source for research and teaching. In the 1970s, the team of Hansjörg Siegenthaler started to collect over 10'000 time series covering the economic history of Switzerland in the 19th and 20th Centuries. The collection has been published as a book (Siegenthaler and Ritzmann-Blickenstorfer 1996), and has now been made available to the public in electronic form.
The data collection for the "Historical Statistics of Switzerland" started more than 30 years ago. Click here to learn more about the history of the Database.
The database provides different tools to find specific data in the collection of over 10'000 time series. In the lesson How to Use the Database you will get to know these tools and learn how to use them.
The Database is accessible via this link.
