How To Use the Database
The Swiss Economic and Social History Online Database, developed at the Research Center for Economic and Social History (FSW) at the University of Zurich, is a unique source for research and teaching. In the 1970s, the team of Hansjörg Siegenthaler started to collect over 10'000 time series covering the economic history of Switzerland in the 19th and 20th Centuries. The collection has been published as a book (Siegenthaler and Ritzmann-Blickenstorfer 1996), and has now been made available to the public in electronic form.
This lesson demonstrates the access to the Swiss Economic and Social History Online Database. At the end of the lesson, you should be able to use the chapter structure and the search tool to find appropriate data on the topic you are interested in.
